Maintenance Welder​/Fabricator

Summary / Objective

Provide Welding / Fabricating expertise with the ability to make mechanical repairs in the Processing facilities working as a team member to make sure that food products are processed according to quality specifications and customer needs.

  Skills:
  
  To include, but not be limited to, the use of an oxy‑acetylene cutting torch, oxy‑acetylene welding, copper pipe soldering, stick welding on mild steel as well as stainless steel, and TIG (Heli‑Arc) welding of aluminum and stainless steel. The ability to draw/draft and layout equipment conveyors, guards etc. for various processing equipment. Welding Certification for sanitary lines or Pressure Vessels would also be beneficial.
• Hydraulic Systems:
  To include, but not be limited to, hydraulic motors as well as pumps, pressure switches, directional flow control valves, check valves, hydraulic manifolds, as well as piping and hydraulic fittings.
• Pneumatics:
  To include but not be limited to, cylinders, air motors, control valves and piping, and an ability to interpret pneumatic schematics.
• Electrical: A basic understanding of electricity in both single phase and three phase power for 110V, 230V, and 480V; an understanding of micro‑switches, solid‑state relays, photoelectric switches and sensors, and inductive proximity switches. Any experience with programmable logic controllers and computers is beneficial.
• Industrial Shop Tools:
  To include but not be limited to, the use of grinders and cutoff saws, band saws, drill presses, hydraulic presses, and pipe threading equipment. A basic understanding of the operation of a lathe is beneficial.
• Experience:
  
  Previous work experience as a mechanic in food processing plants or fish processing plants would be desired. Most power tools are supplied by the company, but you will need to have your own hand tools (standard and metric).
• Ability to work on various processing machines and equipment as required.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

The worker is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions: protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The worker will be exposed to a 32°F environment on occasion. The worker is subject to noise. The worker can be subject to cold and wet conditions.

This job involves medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The worker will be required to have a range of motion as follows:

• Often requires walking, moving or climbing to accomplish tasks.
• Often requires standing for sustained periods of time.
• Occasionally requires stooping and reaching.
• Occasionally requires pushing using upper extremities to press against something with steady force.
• Occasionally requires pulling using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
• Lifting is required on an occasional basis.
