Sr. Accountant

Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a manufacturing organization in the Burbank area of California on a Contract basis. This role supports accurate financial reporting and helps maintain the integrity of accounting activity for assigned business entities through hands-on month-end work, analysis, and reconciliation. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger expertise, sound financial judgment, and the ability to work effectively across routine close activities and special accounting projects.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries to support monthly accounting activity for assigned entities.

- Reconcile general ledger accounts and maintain detailed roll-forwards to ensure balances are complete, accurate, and well supported.

- Investigate account discrepancies, identify unusual fluctuations, and record necessary reclassifications or adjustments.

- Produce and review period-end financial reporting packages, including balance sheet, income statement, and operating expense statements.

- Contribute to month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes by validating account activity and resolving open items on schedule.

- Support quarterly analytical review work by compiling financial data and assisting with variance explanations.

- Assemble audit and tax support schedules required for year-end reporting and compliance activities.

- Partner with accounting leadership on special projects and additional financial assignments as business needs arise.

Requirements

- Proven experience in senior-level accounting within a manufacturing or similarly complex operating environment.

- Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, and month-end close procedures.

- Demonstrated knowledge of fixed assets and inventory.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analysis, reconciliation, and financial reporting tasks.

- Experience using ERP or accounting platforms such as Net Suite, Oracle, or SAP.

- Ability to analyze financial results, identify variances, and recommend appropriate corrections.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and shifting priorities in a Contract role.
