Job Summary:

The R&O Mechanical Tech I is responsible for testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying repair and overhaul (R&O) Electro-mechanical components, electro-mechanical assemblies, parts, equipment, and systems by applying principles of mechanical theory, basic electrical skills, engineering mathematics, testing, and physics.

Essential Functions:

* Read component maintenance manuals, blueprints, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions for assembling electro-mechanical units

* Write tear down reports and accurately record testing data and inspection

* Test electro-mechanical units, using standard test equipment, and analyze results to evaluate performance and determine need for adjustment. Test, and maintain mechanical components according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, using hand and power tools

* Perform repairs, maintenance and calibration of electro-mechanical assemblies per the Component Maintenance Manuals

* Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, working with manufacturers and field representatives as necessary to procure replacement parts

* Practice safe work habits as established by OSHA and Crane policy

* Supports Crane Business System (CBS) initiatives including 5S, KPI's, Standard Work, Problem Solving, and other initiatives as they arise

* Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary

* Any other task assigned by supervisor or management

This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Minimum Qualifications:

* Experience:

0 - 6 months' experience in a highly regulated manufacturing or repair environment

* Knowledge:
Knowledge of methods and procedure in mechanical characteristics as related to area of assignment and ability to devise and adapt;
Familiarity with product flow through a manufacturing or repair environment;
Working knowledge of computer systems. Critical thinking and the use of reasoning to identify solutions and conclusions.

* Skills:

Good oral expression and comprehension (communicate through speech so others will understand and listen to and understand information and ideas presented through speech);
Good written expression and comprehension (communicate in English through writing so others will understand and read and understand information and ideas presented in English through writing). Time management skills are required.

* Abilities:
Ability to learn new test software and equipment and to identify abnormal conditions in equipment and product;
Manual and finger dexterity (ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects);
Ability to make precisely coordinated movements;
Ability to work in multiple software systems, including time enter, data enter

* Education/Certification:

High School diploma or equivalent

* Eligibility Requirement:
Must be a US Person (under ITAR rules) and able to work under FAA FSDO requirements to be eligible.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Knowledge of raw materials, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective repair and distribution of goods

* AA degree in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Technology, or equivalent knowledge through experience or other recognized educational institution

Working Conditions:

* Working conditions are normal for a repair station environment

* Repair operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE
