Director of Engineering

Summary

Our client, a well-established aerospace technology manufacturer based in Burbank, Ca, is seeking an Engineering Director to lead their engineering organization. This is a search on behalf of a respected name in aerospace electronics serving commercial, business, and military aircraft markets.

This is a high-impact leadership role overseeing a team of 10–15 engineers, responsible for driving innovation, technical excellence, and product development/sustainment for mission-critical aerospace electronic systems.

• Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary engineering team, fostering technical rigor and collaboration
• Oversee development, qualification, and certification of aerospace electronic systems, ensuring compliance with industry and customer requirements
• Provide technical oversight for system design, integration, and performance optimization
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, product reliability, and manufacturing support
• Partner cross-functionally with program management, business development, and operations to align engineering with business goals
• Serve as subject matter expert supporting customer engagements, proposals, and technical presentations
• Manage engineering resources, budgets, and project timelines

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of experience in electrical/electronic engineering within aerospace
• Deep knowledge of electronic system design principles and integration
• Experience with airborne systems certification (FAA, DO-160, RTCA, MIL-STD, etc.)
• Proven leadership managing engineering teams
• Familiarity with aircraft installation and integration constraints
• Experience with both defense and commercial aerospace customers
• Strong communication and decision-making skills; proficiency in MS Office and Project
