The AutoCAD Designer/Drafter is our superhero of AV drafting and projection studies, with a side of architecture, ready to jump onto a project at a moment’s notice. This role will be focused on quick decision making regarding technical feasibility for the sales team, the creation of detailed drawing packages for the installation team, and General Contractors.
In the Pre-sales stage, you will be responsible for working closely with the sales team to rapidly create drawings and calculations for the vetting of venues for transformation into our immersive formats. You will make recommendations for required changes to the theatre as needed for our formats. This will include drafting in AutoCAD, Revit, or other platforms as needed.
Detailed Design packages will provide all of the information required by the AV Installation team as well as the General Contractors for our systems. You will draw on skills in the AV design field but also be aware of electrical and building codes. In this stage, you will work closely with architects and other vendors to ensure the details are fully coordinated.
When workload is required, outside vendors will be engaged to create Detailed Design drawings. You will assist the Engineering team in reviewing drawings created by outside vendors for accuracy and completeness.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with Engineering teams in the US and Korea to develop technical drawing packages and standards
- Ensure that designs adhere to company standards along with industry codes and regulations
- Maintain organized project CAD documentation
- Assist Business Development team to quickly and accurately verify venue appropriateness for our platforms.
- Create and update equipment lists and/or bill of materials
- Create and modify 2D AutoCAD dynamic blocks
- Create mounting details for equipment Collaborate with Project Management, Engineering, and outside vendors to ensure that installation and commissioning is smooth, seamless, and efficient through detailed and clear documentation
- Predict brightness and pixel size of final image on a screen surface with different projectors and lenses using internal tools
- Analyze venue drawings to locate special effects devices (fog machines, snow machines, fans, etc) and suggest modifications to seating layout for the 4DX platform
- Coordinate with other disciplines and vendors to ensure integrated, buildable solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Media Technology, Technical Theater, Entertainment Technology, or equivalent experience.
- 5~10 years of experience designing and documenting professional video and media systems, preferably for themed entertainment, attractions, or other permanent immersive installations.
- Strong documentation skills using CAD/BIM and related tools (AutoCAD and/or Revit, Bluebeam).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365
- Working knowledge of large-format projection systems
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Detail-oriented with a concentrated focus on quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
