Overview

Senior Business Intelligence Engineer — 6-month contract. Hybrid work is required.

Location:

Burbank, CA; or Universal City / Los Angeles area. Currency: USD.

• Partner closely with business stakeholders, product managers, analysts, and data engineers to deliver high-quality, performant, and scalable reporting solutions using leading BI tools.
• Drive the definition, direction, and evolution of the BI Reporting Platform to meet enterprise-scale analytics needs.
• Design, build, and evolve large-scale BI platforms that power day-to-day decision-making across business teams.
• Transform complex, messy data into intuitive, actionable insights.
• Translate requirements into technical designs for dashboards, datasets, and reporting solutions.
• Collaborate with analysts, product managers, and data engineers to deliver visual, actionable insights aligned with quality, performance, and governance standards.
• Design, develop, maintain, and support dashboards, reports, and underlying datasets as business needs evolve.
• Continuously optimize dashboards, datasets, and SQL queries to improve performance, usability, and reliability.
• Contribute across the full report development lifecycle: design, development, testing, iteration, deployment, and support.
• Apply and promote BI best practices, including data integrity, validation, testing, documentation, and performance optimization.
• Educate and support business users through training, documentation, and office-hours-style assistance to increase BI tool adoption.
• Support internal stakeholders with ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests.
• Champion and expand self-service BI capabilities, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvements.

• 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, including data warehousing, analytics, and BI technologies.
• Strong expertise building enterprise-scale dashboards and reports in Tableau and/or Looker.
• Advanced SQL proficiency, including complex joins, window functions, and performance optimization.
• Experience with large-scale data platforms such as Redshift, Snowflake, and/or Databricks.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and analytics-friendly data structures.
• Experience designing and maintaining scalable, performant BI data models.
• Proven ability to deliver production-ready reporting in distributed, service-oriented environments.
• Excellent communication and customer-service skills with the ability to partner effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, a quantitative discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to work hybrid onsite (3 days per week) from the Fandango office in Universal City, Los Angeles.
• Preferred:
  Experience administering and supporting Tableau and/or Looker environments.
