Overview
Maintenance Assistant - Temp to Hire at Savant Senior Living
As a Maintenance Assistant in our Assisted Living facility, you will help maintain the physical environment to ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents and staff. You will work under the direction of the Maintenance Director or Executive Director to perform a variety of general maintenance tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in the general maintenance and repair of the facility, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry work.
- Perform routine inspections of equipment, systems, and facilities to identify maintenance needs or potential issues.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders, prioritizing tasks and ensuring timely completion.
- Conduct preventative maintenance activities, such as filter replacements, equipment lubrication, and inspections, as directed.
- Assist in setup and breakdown of furniture, fixtures, and equipment for events and resident needs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas, equipment storage, and inventory.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, reporting shortages or needs to the supervisor.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Report safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor promptly.
- Collaborate with contractors and vendors as needed for repairs, inspections, or maintenance projects.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Required health screening, TB clearance, and criminal record clearance.
- First Aid/CPR certification (if applicable).
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional maintenance training or certifications are desirable.
- Previous experience in general maintenance; healthcare or senior care environment preferred.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry systems.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
- Attention to detail, time management, and prioritization.
- Good communication and professional interaction with residents, families, staff, and contractors.
- Physical stamina to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, carrying, and working in various conditions.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.
- Willingness to undergo background checks and comply with health screening requirements.
