Weare seeking an experienced Fire Testing Lead Technician to overseeinspection teams performing Title 19 and NFPA 72 fire alarm testingthroughout Los Angeles County. The Lead Technician will serve as theon-site authority for testing, documentation, customer communication,and compliance for commercial, industrial, and multi-story buildings.
Lead and perform Title 19, NFPA 72 annual, semi-annual, and quarterly fire alarm system inspections.
- Test and verify operation of:
- Smoke/heat detectors
- Pull stations
- Horns/strobes/speakers
- Duct detectors
- Waterflow & tamper switches (with sprinkler contractors)
- Control panels, SLC/NAC circuits, and power supplies
- Conduct testing for integrated systems such as elevators, HVAC shutdowns, fire pumps, and clean-agent systems.
- Supervise a team of inspection technicians and helpers.
- Train staff on testing procedures, documentation, safety, and system identification.
- Ensure efficient daily workflow and accurate device counts.
- Complete required California Title 19 State Fire Marshal forms.
- Accurately document deficiencies and communicate needed repairs to clients and project managers.
- Ensure all testing complies with NFPA 72, California Title 19, and local AHJ requirements
- Coordinate onsite testing schedules with building engineers, facility managers, and security teams.
- Provide clear explanations of inspection results and deficiency repairs.
- Hours will vary, must be able to work on-call, weekends, nights, split shifts, and rotating shifts (if needed).
- 3+ years experience in fire life safety testing
- Los Angeles Chiefs Regulation 4 Certificate of Fitness (in one or more categories)
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- Valid California Driver License and proof of auto insurance.
- Ability to drive for 2+ hours in a work shift/day, daily.
- Ability to walk, bend, stoop, hear, and speak, daily.
- Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, under all temperature variations.
- Work environment may be construction sites, commercial buildings, and high-rise buildings,
- Ascend/Descend and work at heights above 6ft and extreme heights, occasionally
- Move/Transport/Install/Remove items weighing 20+ pounds, daily
- Pushing/Pulling using upper extremities, daily
- Position self to work in confined spaces, occasionally
