The Art Director is responsible for leading and elevating the overall creative vision for Loungefly product categories, inspiring a team of designers to deliver innovative, consumer-driven products that align with brand standards, retailer expectations, and business objectives. This role provides strategic creative direction from concept through production, oversees creative execution across assigned accounts, and partners cross-functionally with Product Development, Merchandising, Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Licensing to ensure compelling product storytelling and exceptional design quality.

The Art Director manages and mentors the design team while championing creative excellence, innovation, and operational effectiveness throughout the product creation lifecycle.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with the Sr. Director of Loungefly Creative to establish creative direction, product strategies, innovation, product storytelling and design priorities across accessories and apparel categories.
  • Elevate the overall creative vision from development to final execution for assigned accounts.
  • Manage, lead, mentor, and develop a team of designers by providing creative direction, constructive feedback, coaching, workload prioritization, deadlines, performance management, and professional development.
  • Review projects, artwork, and new design concepts, providing strategic creative feedback to ensure designs are visually compelling, commercially relevant, and aligned with brand, licensor, buyer, and retailer expectations.
  • Direct and resolve buyer and licensor revisions while preserving creative integrity, brand consistency, quality standards, and project timelines.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Development, Merchandising, Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Licensing to align creative execution with product briefs, consumer needs, market trends, and commercial objectives.
  • Partner closely with the Senior Product Operations Manager to provide visibility into creative progress, communicate project status, and support execution throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Develop and present trend research, seasonal direction, concept boards, pitch decks, and creative presentations for internal leadership, licensors, retailers, and key stakeholders.
  • Partner with Product Development and Sourcing to understand manufacturing capabilities, and price-point considerations that inform creative decisions.
  • Review product samples from a creative perspective, ensuring artwork execution, color accuracy, layout, material application, and overall product quality align with approved creative direction.
  • Participate in retailer meetings, licensor reviews, product presentations, and creative discussions as the primary creative representative for assigned accounts.
  • Champion creative excellence across every stage of product development, ensuring consistency, originality, innovation, and premium execution from concept through final production.
  • Lead by example by promoting collaboration, accountability, creativity, and an inclusive, high-performing team environment.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, Illustration, Communication Arts, or related creative field.
  • 7–10+ years of progressive graphic design experience, including at least 5 years in a senior creative leadership role.
  • Proven experience leading and developing creative teams while managing multiple concurrent product initiatives.
