This role exists due to continued production demand supporting critical aircraft landing and brake control systems.
At Crane Aerospace & Electronics, this position plays a key role in manufacturing precision aerospace components used in commercial and defense aircraft worldwide. Every part produced contributes directly to aircraft safety, reliability, and performance.
The Work You'll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
- Set up and operate OD, , and surface grinding machines (manual and CNC)
- Perform precision grinding on aerospace components
- Load, run, and adjust CNC programs at the machine
- Select tooling, grinding media, collets, chucks, and work holding
- Compute and adjust offsets, taper, and clearances
- Hold tight tolerances down to 001" (Level I/II) and as tight as 00010" (Level III)
- Perform first-article and in-process inspection
- Use micrometers, air gauges, profilometers, and laser micrometers
- Dress and modify grinding wheels as needed
- Troubleshoot size, cylindricity, and surface finish issues
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and fellow machinists to ensure process control and traceability

- FANUC (or equivalent CNC controls)

- Bore Gauges
- Indicators
- Flow benches (Level III)
Materials You'll Work With
- Alloy Steel
- Stainless Steel
- Aerospace-grade metals
What We're Looking ForRequired:
- 0-5+ years of precision grinding experience (level determined by background)
- Experience in a machining or manufacturing environment
- Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
- Strong understanding of offsets, taper adjustments, and measurement interpretation
- Comfortable working to tight tolerances
- Reliable, safety-minded, and team-oriented
- U.S. Person (ITAR requirement)
Preferred (Not Required):
- 2+ years CNC OD/ (Level II consideration)
- 5+ years precision ground aerospace assemblies (Level III consideration)
- Experience with FANUC controls
- Experience with advanced gauging and surface finish verification

Pay, Benefits & SchedulePay Range:
$27.38 - $50.18 per hour (DOE, Level I-III placement)
Pay Notes:
- $2/hour shift differential added after training upon transition to 2nd shift
- Overtime paid per state and federal guidelines
