Job Summary

The Material Handler II is responsible for receiving, moving, storing, counting, tracking, issuing, and shipping a variety of production parts, materials, and supplies. The production floor relies on this position to provide the right parts and materials at the correct time to meet on‑time‑delivery goals.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain accurate inventory control by following established work instructions and processes.
  • Complete the cycle count process for Value Stream;
    Escalate variances in counts as needed.
  • Perform root cause investigation on variances in cycle counts.
  • Move materials to and from receiving, production areas and shipping by hand, using sorting bins and carts, or other equipment.
  • Consult with others (i.e., supervisors, buyer planners, etc.) to rectify problems such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications.
  • Unpack, receive, and stock materials into storeroom location(s); pack and ship materials in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Read work orders to determine material and equipment needs for production cell work.
  • Issue critical materials to production cells.
  • Respond to unplanned issues with internal customers in a timely manner.
  • Aid and/or backfill coworkers, as needed to complete daily tasks.
  • Change part stocking methods to better facilitate production needs.
  • Ensure compliance with export compliance rules.
  • Assist with training new employees and cross training other materials associates.
  • Capable of supporting more than one value stream.
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience:

    3-6 years of relevant manufacturing experience; previous experience working with manufacturing software tools.
  • Knowledge: raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution of goods; familiarity with lean principles; understanding of continuous improvement tools.
  • Skills/Abilities:
    Outstanding manual dexterity; ability to concentrate on repetitive tasks; ability to accurately follow detailed work instructions; ability to understand standard work instructions; ability to solve routine problems; math skills to perform basic calculations; outstanding verbal communication skills; proficiency with MS Office.
  • Education/Certification:

    High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledgeable in the use of microscopes.

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE.
