Production Planner I

Job Summary

Production Planner I coordinates with operations and procurement teams to ensure the movement of materials and resources through departments to meet production schedules.

• Draw up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
• Analyze production specifications and plant capacity data to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
• Plan and schedule workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
• Plan sequence of fabrication and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
• Confer with supervisors to determine status of assigned projects; expedite operations that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
• Prepare production reports.
• Prepare purchase orders to obtain materials, tools, and equipment.
• Any other tasks assigned by supervisor or management.

• Experience:
  
  5+ years’ experience in scheduling, supply chain or fulfillment.
• Knowledge:
  Strong working knowledge of manufacturing, production planning and materials control functions;
  Strong understanding of Kanban Systems, JIT, POU, FIFO, Level loading, with a manufacturing process understanding preferred.
• Skills/Abilities:
  Expert in using scheduling and capacity planning tools; experience with Oracle;
  Significant experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Access;
  Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Education/Certification:
  
  BS degree required.

• Experience with Lean Manufacturing strongly preferred.
• Experience with Oracle (11i preferred).

This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

• Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
• Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment including but not limited to eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and other required PPE.
• Ability to lift objects up to 25 lbs.
• Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary.
• Standing 90%, sitting 10%, lifting up to 25 pounds, pushing up to 50 pounds.
• Mental/Visual: use of microscope and computer. Workspace: clean bench.

33.98/hr.

- 40.30/hr. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications.
