Position OverviewAs a Dishwasher at Castaway, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining the high standards of cleanliness and organization that are integral to the smooth functioning of our kitchen. Your responsibility will be to ensure that all dishes, glassware, utensils, and cooking equipment are washed, sanitized, and prepared to the highest standards, both for our staff and guests. In this role, your attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to quality will directly contribute to the success of our exceptional dining experience.
Key Responsibilities- Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, silverware, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils, ensuring all items are spotless and ready for use. Utilize industrial dishwashing equipment, detergents, and sanitizers.
- Be proactive in troubleshooting and addressing any issues that may arise with dishwashing machines to minimize disruptions.
- Sort dishes and utensils by category, size, shape, or material to maximize cleaning efficiency. Ensure proper loading into machines for optimal results.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment by sweeping, mopping, and wiping down counters and equipment. Keep all dishes neatly stored in their designated locations.
- During peak service periods, assist with various kitchen tasks such as food prep or plating to support kitchen efficiency.
- Strictly adhere to health and safety standards, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and wearing protective gear. Help prevent the spread of disease through diligent sanitization practices.
- Maintain the inventory of cleaning supplies and notify management of any shortages to ensure continuous operation.
- Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure clean dishes are available for chefs and servers, supporting a smooth and efficient service.
- Prior experience in a fast-paced banquet kitchen environment is preferred but not required.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- A positive attitude and eagerness to learn in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to stay composed under pressure, ensuring the kitchen runs efficiently during peak hours.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays is Mandatory.
- Frequent lifting, moving and carrying of kitchenware, cleaning equipment, food boxes, garbage etc. weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Standing for the duration of a 6+ hour shift with appropriate breaks.
- Regular and prolonged standing and walking to prepare food, clean workstations, move garbage, etc.
- Occasional ascending/descending stairs across the restaurant to move food items, equipment, etc.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
- Frequent use of hand to finger motions, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms
- Constant bending, stooping and turning, etc.
- Constant exposure to hot and damp temperature fluctuations
