Shortage Control Associate – Burlington Stores, Inc.

This role focuses on creating a secure shopping environment and delivering exceptional customer service. As a Shortage Control Associate (SCA), you’ll monitor the store entrances, exits, and high‑risk areas to reduce theft and shoplifting while maintaining a positive presence.

• Maintain a professional appearance and command presence at all times, wearing the designated dress standards, radio, and earpiece.
• Stand positioned at the front of the store, remaining vigilant and aware of your surroundings.
• Greet every customer entering or exiting the store with a warm smile and a friendly greeting to promote a sense of security.
• Create a secure environment and reduce opportunities for theft.
• Possess knowledge mastery of shortage areas and support programs aimed at theft reduction.
• Communicate information about theft prevention during store rallies and collaborate with the Manager on Duty.
• Conduct bag and package checks on associates to ensure safety and security standards.
• Provide support in training associates on shortage reduction programs and processes.
• Report theft incidents and suspicious activities to the Manager on Duty immediately.

• 1+ years of experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, asset protection, loss prevention, or operations (preferred).
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and visually monitor the store environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with customers and coworkers.
• Confidentiality and discretion required.
• Ability to analyze business trends and exhibit a positive demeanor.
• Fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment comfort with disciplined decision making.
• Leadership skills that support fostering productive business relationships.

Part‑time associates may also be eligible for up to 4 hours of paid time off annually after one year of service, up to 8 paid holidays, and paid sick time in accordance with applicable law.
