DSHS Lake Burien Psychiatric Youth Counselor 3 - Duty Officer
As a Psychiatric Youth Counselor 3 Scheduler, you will implement daily, weekly, and monthly staff schedules within the electronic scheduling system for Lake Burien Youth Transitional Care Facility (LBTCF). Your responsibilities include managing leave, attendance, and relief staffing, maintaining the scheduling system, training staff, and ensuring adequate coverage for a 24-hour facility.
Responsibilities- Provide facility-wide staffing knowledge and specialist scheduling skills.
- Delegate responsibility for staff scheduling, staffing, and coverage for a 24-hour facility.
- Manage and maintain the facility system for leave, attendance, and scheduling.
- Serve as the scheduling coordinator and troubleshoot scheduling issues.
- Liaise with the scheduling system users and communicate any problems to relevant parties.
- Coordinate with on‑calls to ensure their shift availability is maintained.
- Make schedule changes for on‑call and permanent staff as needed.
- Monitor, track, and run reports on staffing levels, leave trends, and overtime use.
- Cover the sick call phone and relay staffing changes related to calls or emergent needs.
- Manage approved vacation segments per agreements.
- Create and train a list of qualified schedulers for on‑call coverage procedures.
- Act as liaison between the facility and the on‑call leader during emergencies.
- Respond to youth behavioral concerns and support direct‑care staff.
- Assist in completing incident management paperwork and route it to the office.
- Check in and out visitors to the facility.
- Maintain the vehicle checkout system to ensure staff request vehicles appropriately.
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, education, recreation, psychology, or a related field and one year of social services experience, or
- One year of experience as a Psychiatric Youth Counselor 2, or
- Equivalent education and experience providing the required knowledge and skills.
- Work on holidays or overtime may be required to support 24/7 staffing.
- Must provide physical support for clients and safely intervene to protect clients from harm.
- Must be able to drive clients to appointments or activities.
- Agency Affiliated Counselor credential from the Department of Health required within 60 days of hire.
- King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary; eligible for a free ORCA card.
- On‑site work at least three days a week may qualify for an additional 5% premium pay.
