Are you looking to gain real-world experience while serving the Burien community?
The City of Burien is seeking a highly motivated and driven GIS College Intern to assist with various projects within our Information Systems (IS) Division. This temporary internship offers an opportunity to apply your GIS knowledge, develop valuable professional skills, and contribute to projects that have a direct impact on the community.
This position is open until filled. Individuals who are interested are encouraged to apply early. The first review of applicants will be on June 24, 2026. Applicants who do not submit their unofficial transcripts, cover letter, and resume will not be considered.
Schedule: 20 hours per week for approximately three months. Incumbents must be able to travel to Burien City Hall and work onsite.
Knowledge of:
- ESRI ARcGIS software
- SQL relational database concepts
- Professional office, electronic communications etiquette, and techniques
- Microsoft 365 Office Suites;
Word, Excel, and Outlook
Education and/or
Experience:
- Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in a B.S. degree program in Geography, GIS, Engineering, or a related field at an accredited college or university, or
- A recent graduate in one of these fields, having graduated within the past 12 months, and
- GPA of 2.0 or higher
