We seek a Finance Director to lead our financial operations, ensuring fiscal sustainability while aligning our financial practices with our mission and long-term vision.

Position Overview

The Finance Director provides leadership and oversight of CHOOSE 180’s financial operations, ensuring strong financial systems, accurate reporting, sound internal controls, and responsible stewardship of organizational resources.

The Finance Director leads budgeting, forecasting, accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, grant and contract financial management, and financial analysis. This role serves as a key financial partner to the CEO, and organizational leadership, translating financial information into clear insights that support sound decision-making, sustainability, and programmatic impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the annual organizational budgeting process in partnership with the CEO and department leaders.
  • Develop and maintain financial forecasts, models, and scenario analyses to support organizational planning and decision-making.
  • Monitor financial performance against budget and forecast, identify trends and risks, and recommend solutions.
  • Provide the CEO and leadership team with clear financial analysis and recommendations related to organizational priorities, staffing, programs, funding, and sustainability.
  • Monitor cash flow and organizational liquidity and proactively identify financial concerns.
  • Participate in, and as needed lead the monthly Finance Committee meetings, preparing financial reports for the Committee to review.
Accounting & Financial Operations
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger management, reconciliations, journal entries, accounts payable/receivable, and month-end and year-end close.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, cash-flow reporting, and management reports.
  • Ensure financial records comply with U.S. GAAP and applicable nonprofit accounting standards, including ASC 958 and ASC 606.
  • Maintain and strengthen financial systems, processes, policies, and internal controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial efficiency, accuracy, automation, and accountability.
  • Develop regular financial reports and analysis for the CEO, leadership team, department leaders, and Board as appropriate.
  • Lead budget-to-actual analysis and partner with department leaders to understand and address significant variances.
  • Translate financial information into clear, accessible insights for non-financial leaders.
  • Develop financial dashboards and other tools that support organizational decision-making.
Contracts & Compliance
  • Oversee the financial management of grants and contracts, including preparing budgets, tracking, invoicing, reporting, and compliance.
  • Ensure restricted and unrestricted funds are appropriately tracked and expenditures align with funder requirements.
  • Partner with program, grants, contracts, and development teams to ensure financial accountability and accurate reporting.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and funder requirements, including the Uniform Guidance for Federal Awards when applicable.
  • Coordinate annual audits, financial reviews, Form 990 preparation, and other external financial engagements.
  • Regularly evaluate internal controls and identify and elevate financial risks, compliance concerns, or potential misuse of funds.
Organizational Partnership & Leadership
  • Serve as a trusted financial partner to the CEO and organizational leadership.
