The duty station for this position is in King County; therefore, the incumbent will receive 5% premium pay in addition to the salary listed above.
The OpportunityThe Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (WSCJTC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Audit & Evaluation Unit Manager. In this key leadership role, you will oversee unit operations and provide guidance to a team responsible for auditing and evaluating student records and instruction to ensure the curriculum is taught with accuracy and efficacy. This unit ensures the curriculum delivery meets agency standards as set by the Executive and Deputy Directors.
As the Audit & Evaluation Unit Manager plays a vital role in advancing WSCJTC’s mission by leading the continuous review, evaluation, and improvement of curriculum. Through strategic oversight and quality assurance, you will help ensure WSCJTC’s training programs remain effective, compliant with RCWs, WACs, and agency policies/procedures, and aligned with the highest professional standards.

Dutiesassigned to this position include (but are not limited to):
- Ensure the Unit activities coincide with the WSCJTC, Executive Director, and the Governor’s Strategic Plans.
- Provide direct oversight of audits and evaluations of the curriculum and student record data systems, instructional design and retention systems, and other assigned projects.
- Research and resolve complex concerns in a professional manner to ensure effective customer service.
- Independently analyze curriculum proposals submitted by subject matter experts, research resources and information, policy documents and identify solutions to address and resolve issues and concerns.
- Develop annual audit plan, using risk assessment process and model to focus on business objectives, risks to achievement of objectives, and risk mitigation controls (COSO process).
- Assist management in design of internal controls within new, existing, or significantly modified processes and systems which may present a high level of risk to WSCJTC.
- Effectively manage a diverse and highly professional staff by providing clear and timely communication and professional development opportunities.
- Evaluate, develop, correct, and mentor staff on their work performance to include providing guidelines and performance feedback.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, management, and supervision of the personnel reporting to the position.
- Ensure staff members are properly trained, outfitted, supported, and motivated to meet the WSCJTC mission.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with constituent programs as they pertain to mutual goals, objectives, and mission.
- At least seven (7) years of progressive experience performing and managing audits and evaluations, developing and managing annual audit planning and execution, managing audit functions, including overseeing quality control over work performed and/or budgets.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, education, public administration, criminal justice, or related field or at least four (4) years of additional auditing experience.
- A minimum of three (3) years of lead, supervisory, and/or management experience.
- Knowledge of 21st Century police reform strategies with an emphasis on de-escalation training.
- Strong public speaking skills.
- Four (4) years of experience with long-range project planning.
- Four (4) years of experience managing projects/teams to advance programs.
