General Purpose

The Retail Associate ensures customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets all customers with a warm smile, treats teammates with respect, follows best‑practice standards in all work centers, keeps the work area clean, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate will perform a range of tasks as assigned during all working hours and may be asked to perform additional tasks in specific situations to support customer service and operational goals.

Functions
  • Ensures safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors at all times.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor, keeps egress clear, and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats all customers and teammates with respect and courtesy; greets customers with eye contact, a smile, and verbal greetings.
  • Assists customers at the register, answers questions politely, and provides prompt, efficient responses to all service calls.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high‑touch areas across the store.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company dress code.
  • Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor with urgency and follows monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Understands Loss Prevention programs, Shortage Highway, and Store Protection procedures.
  • Demonstrates integrity, safeguarding confidential and financial information.
  • Follows Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock policies, processes each piece correctly, and notifies Store Leadership for disposal approvals.
  • Handles cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, voids, and offline procedures with accuracy.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency, maximizes productivity, and minimizes workflow steps.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
  • Effectively communicates with customers, teammates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative manner.
  • Performs basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Uses all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs.
  • Spends up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
  • Regularly bends at the waist, squats, kneels, climbs, carries, reaches, and stoops.
  • Occasionally pushes, pulls, and lifts more than 25 pounds.
  • Uses janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
  • May require additional qualifications for certain assignments.
  • Stockroom shifts: regularly pushes, pulls, and lifts more than 20 pounds.
