Ross is a Fortune 500 off‑price retailer looking for an Area Supervisor to oversee an assigned store area and lead day‑to‑day operations when serving as Manager on Duty.
General PurposeThe Area Supervisor is responsible for opening and closing the store, supervising Associates, ensuring a clean and safe environment, and executing all company operational processes.
Essential Functions- Maintain a safe, secure store environment and promptly report or correct unsafe conditions.
- Ensure building security, including entrance/exit control, EAS checks, cash office security, and protected carrier pick‑ups.
- Handle customer safety, accident reporting, and emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms.
- Deliver excellent customer service, treating all customers and associates with respect and professionalism.
- Represent the Ross brand and enforce the company dress code.
- Maintain store cleanliness and merchandising standards in all areas.
- Supervise merchandising tasks: receiving, processing, stockroom organization, floor moves, and loss prevention.
- Support loss‑prevention initiatives, including floor presence, equipment monitoring, and package inspections.
- Oversee front‑end operations, train associates on registers and shortage‑control, and maintain register equipment.
- Manage fitting‑room cleanliness and tag compliance.
- Handle assigned administrative duties: cash pulls, bank deposits, payroll reporting, and store‑manager requests.

- Fluency in English
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred
- Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications
- Basic math skills for retail environments
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends
- Use all store equipment (PDTs, registers, PC) as required
- Spend up to 100% of work time standing, walking, and moving around the store
- Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop
- Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lb
- Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies
- Stock‑room shifts may require pushing, pulling, and lifting more than 20 lb
The base pay range for this role is $23.13–$23.63 per hour, dependent on experience, skills, and location. Benefits include Accident, Critical Illness, Vision, Auto, Home, and Pet insurance;
