Court Coordinator (S)

Position Number:  | Grade: JB16

Salary Range: $48,243.00 - $73,617.00

District Court 36 serves Burke, Caldwell, and Catawba counties. The role involves administrative and case-management duties supporting the District Court Judges.

Description of Work
  • Compose and prepare correspondence, reports, and legal documents.
  • Track case status, prepare and distribute periodic reports, and answer inquiries regarding case status.
  • Schedule and resolve scheduling conflicts; prepare court calendars.
  • Screen callers and visitors, answer inquiries, secure and provide information.
  • Screen and route mail and email according to content.
  • Copy, file, retrieve materials and perform periodic follow‑up.
  • Order and distribute office supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with legal research and maintain administrative records.
  • Provide support services to other district court programs when assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief District Court Judge or Court Manager.

This position reports to the Court Manager. Work hours are 8:00a.m. – 5:00p.m., Monday–Friday. The location will be in Burke, Caldwell, or Catawba County.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of court system and legal office practices and procedures.
  • Skills in case management, organization, rapid and accurate data entry, and use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to explain office and court procedures and regulations to the public; analyze facts or program information to make accurate decisions; work independently on special court programs; spell and apply grammar correctly; collaborate with others; and organize work to meet specific deadlines.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Graduation from a four‑year college or university with a degree in a human services field such as psychology, social work, sociology, counseling, or criminal justice and at least one year of experience in a human services field or the court system.
  • Or an associate’s degree in a human services field plus three years of equivalent experience.
  • Or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
