Key Responsibilities:
  • Technician Supervision: Provide direct day-to-day leadership and supervision to wind turbine blade technicians and field crews. Assign tasks, monitor work progress, ensure adherence to company procedures and quality standards, and guide teams in performing blade inspections, repairs (e.g., composite repairs, leading/trailing edge fixes, coating applications), and maintenance activities safely and efficiently.
  • Time Tracking and Resource Management: Monitor technician time, track labor hours against project schedules and budgets, and ensure accurate recording of time spent on site activities. Assist in resource allocation to meet project timelines and optimize crew productivity.
  • EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) Documentation and Protocols: Enforce strict compliance with all EHS policies, OSHA regulations, company safety standards, and site-specific requirements. Participate in safety briefings, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and toolbox talks. Support EHS reps with required EHS documentation, including incident/near-miss reports, safety audits, permit documentation, and inspection records. Promote a zero-incident safety culture and immediately address any violations or hazards.
  • Communications and Coordination: Serve as field point of contact for effective communication with customer representatives (e.g., wind farm owners/operators), providing regular updates on work progress, issues, completed tasks, and any impacts to operations. Collaborate closely with HGE project managers, engineers, and other internal teams to align on project scopes, technical requirements, schedules, change orders, and resolution of field challenges. Relay technical feedback from the field to support continuous improvement.
  • Performance Appraisals and Team Development: Assist the Director of Field Operations - Blades and other leadership in conducting performance evaluations for direct reports. Provide input on technician performance, strengths, development needs, and recommendations for training or advancement. Support team development through coaching, mentoring, and identifying skill gaps in blade repair techniques, safety practices, and related competencies.
  • Daily Tasks and Operational Support: Complete additional daily tasks as assigned by the Director of Field Operations - Blades, which may include preparing daily/weekly reports, overseeing equipment and material usage, assisting with inventory management for blade repair materials, ensuring proper documentation of repairs and inspections, and contributing to site logistics or problem-solving as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Minimum 4–6 years of hands‑on experience in wind turbine blade inspection, composite repair, or related field operations (e.g., blade repair technician or senior technician level).
  • Prior supervisory or lead experience in wind energy, construction, or industrial field environments preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of wind turbine blade components, common damage types, repair methods, and industry standards (e.g., GWO certifications).
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety with thorough understanding of EHS protocols in high-risk environments (e.g., working at heights, confined spaces).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders, including customers, engineers, and technicians.
  • Proficiency in time tracking, reporting, and basic computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Office, field service software).
  • Ability to travel extensively (up to 100% depending on project demands) and work in physically demanding outdoor conditions.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass background checks and drug screenings.

This role offers the opportunity to lead critical blade operations that directly impact turbine performance, longevity, and renewable energy production while reporting directly to senior leadership in blade field operations.
