Sr. Automation & Controls SupervisorCoordinates engineering functions and people covering all aspects of electrical and automation engineering in the factory. Technical expertise includes electrical distribution, instrumentation and automation, knowledge of MES, digital solutions, food processing and technology and project management. Sets overall strategic and tactical direction for the E&A and maintenance department in subject area of expertise, with focus on people and product safety, reliability, sustainability, compliance and business objectives.
Actively participates in the planning and support‑delivery of capital investment projects.
The role requires deep insight into production processes and drives continuous quality, safety, and efficiency improvements while protecting technological know‑how.
What You’ll Do- Support building Automation & Controls and electro‑mechanical skill capability: ensure personnel are competent to safely and efficiently operate and maintain equipment.
- Deliver Process Improvements: continuously strive to improve quality, safety or efficiency while protecting competitive advantage.
- Operate and Maintain: implement and execute maintenance strategy, tools and methodologies at site level, ensuring safe and reliable operation of electrical systems, instrumentation, process and supervisory control, and MES. Implement digital technologies to drive reliability and process improvements.
- Manage Risk and Compliance: ensure installations comply with safety, health, environment, product safety and quality standards; keep key documentation up to date; ensure management of change is in place for modifications.
- Drive Sustainability: participate in factory sustainability objectives, define priorities, develop and operationalize strategy for energy and water savings, and track results from all improvement projects.
- Manage factory asset portfolio: ensure strategy for end‑of‑life, obsolescence and replacement; provide timely stakeholder awareness for capital planning.
- Excel in Industrialization: participate in all capital investment projects in the factory that involve the area, ensuring technical solutions meet standards and are delivered on time and on budget.
- Minimum 5 years' experience as an Automation and/or MES engineer with electrical experience (Project Engineer, Project Manager or Factory MES‑E&A Engineer).
- Experience managing/direct supervision of technical teams, contractors or other 3rd parties.
- Experience delivering technical trainings.
- Experience in project management, including multidisciplinary engineering projects and start‑up of technical equipment or production lines.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple to complex instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple to complex correspondence.
- Ability to present information effectively in one‑on‑one and group situations to customers, clients, and team members.
- Effective problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment and/or clothing.
- Sit 8+ hours per day.
- Stand/walk 7+ hours per day.
- Frequently bend, reach, twist/turn and climb.
- Occasionally squat.
- Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder and carry 30 feet.
- Specific vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
- Constantly work in damp, wet, humid and slippery environments.
- Constantly work near moving equipment with fumes or airborne debris.
