Medical Support Specialist EMT​/ Paramedic

Job Description

A Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at Bio Life Plasma Services supports plasma center operations, reporting to the Plasma Center Manager. The role involves determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and distributing notifications of unsuitable results. The specialist works under guidance of Center Manager and Center Physician and follows industry regulations and Bio Life Medical Affairs guidance, including environmental, health and safety responsibilities.

• Determine donor eligibility, including managing informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
• Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including developing Center Physician standing orders and coordinating donor transport to emergency care.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical/technical issues concerning donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation by occupational health/ER is required, following EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations of pandemic threats within the local community as directed by EHS or Medical Affairs.

• High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate credential from a recognized nursing program meeting state requirements.
• Current license or certification in the state where responsibilities are assigned: EMT-Paramedic.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy (in the state of licensure).
• Completion of FDA‑approved Bio Life Medical Support Specialist training.
• Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Location:

Hourly wage range: $22.80 – $31.35 US.
The actual hourly wage offered will be based on qualifications, experience, and location and will comply with applicable minimum wage requirements.
