Reports directly to the Director of Finance of the Gibby Group. The Senior Accountant is responsible for executing the month-end close process and preparing financial statements and management reports for review. The Senior Accountant will:

  • Perform month-end close tasks across assigned entities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations, in accordance with the close calendar.
  • Prepare entity-level financial statements and supporting schedules for review by the Director of Finance and Controller.
  • Review reconciliations and journal entries prepared by the Staff Accountant, providing feedback and corrections before items are finalized.
  • Maintain the general ledger, ensuring account balances are accurate and reconciling items are cleared timely.
  • Prepare draft management reports and financial summaries to support monthly reviews.
  • Handle more complex or judgment-based accounting items, such as fixed assets, depreciation schedules, intercompany transactions, and inventory.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual budgets by providing historical data and account-level detail.
  • Support the Controller and external accountant during audits and reviews by preparing requested schedules and documentation.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to close processes and accounting procedures.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance. Or relevant and equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, including month-end close and financial statement preparation.
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Excel and accounting/ERP software.
  • Experience reviewing the work of junior accounting staff is a plus.
