The Central Extension District is seeking to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor-Extension Educator. The Extension Educator for Cassia County will devote 90% of the appointment to Extension programming, with approximately 90% of the Extension effort focused on horticulture and small acreages and 10% focused on 4-H youth development.
The remaining appointment includes 5% applied research and scholarly work and 5% University service and leadership responsibilities. The educator will collaborate with county commissioners, partners, and community organizations to ensure programs meet local needs and align with University of Idaho Extension priorities and the annual plan of work.
Minimum Education/Degree Required Listed degree qualification is required at time of hire.
Required Qualifications- Master’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Plant Sciences, Crop Sciences, Agronomy, Education, or closely related to the domain of the position
- Experience providing organizational structure and support for a variety of individuals and groups
- Experience in adapting research materials for oral and written presentations
- Experience recruiting, teaching, organizing, and managing groups
- Experience using technology for program delivery, reporting, and team-based communications
- Ability to work well in a team and provide effective instruction, support, and marketing for programs
- Previous experience working in Extension
- Experience in disseminating results through scholarly outlets
- Experience with grant writing and management
- Be able to lift, carry and/or otherwise move at least 50 pounds.
- Able to work nonstandard business hours, including nights and weekends.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license or provide their own driver.
