Job Description
The IT Support Technician is responsible for performing technical help desk support to all users. He or she is responsible for tracking and resolving equipment problems, maintaining hardware inventory control and IT purchasing needs. The IT Support Technician loads and verifies Software. He or she assists in the implementation of network changes and the evaluation of new technology trends. The IT Support Technician is responsible for assisting in planning, developing, and implementing IT training activities.
He or she identifies training needs and designs support materials including trainer guides, audiovisual aids, computer presentations, manuals, and workbooks. The IT Support Technician assists in evaluating the effectiveness of training programs and employee performance. He or she maintains training library resources and distributes materials as needed.
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or GED required
- 0-3 years of experience supporting computer hardware and software in a professional environment
- Working knowledge of operating system and application installation, an understanding of computer hardware and basic networking
- Understand and maintain well-documented updates to IT tickets/maintenance history
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications as well as proficient typing skills
- Professional appearance, dress, and attitude
- Good communication skills
- Must be well organized
- Provides second level support for technical questions and assists in problem resolution
- Verifies successful server backups and performs necessary maintenance
- Assists in new user training regarding system usage
- Is responsible for accurately keeping track of hardware acquisition and disposal
- Performs bi-annual inventory of equipment to verify accuracy of database
- Coordinates with vendors on the pricing and purchase of new equipment
- Coordinates with Accounts Payable for proper GL allocation of new equipment expenses
- Assists management in identifying IT training and development needs, including software, online communication, computers, and communication equipment
- Evaluates IT training programs, services, and new technology. Provides recommendations and suggestions for improvements or new training areas
- Designs and develops training procedures and programs. Prepares trainer guides, audiovisual aids, student manuals, workbooks, training exercises, and reference materials
- Conducts training sessions and ensures students gain an understanding of the application or equipment
- Administers tests to measure employee progress and understanding of application
- Assists in preparing the IT Training and Development budget
- Updates and maintains the IT Training Resources library and related audiovisual equipment
- Assists in coordinating, scheduling, and setting up training classes. Assists in setting up computers and training equipment, and in ordering and disseminating student materials
- Completes training functions in accordance with established programs and procedures.
- Receives and prioritizes calls and e-mails from users. Assigns tasks to appropriate trouble tickets and ensures that all problems are tracked, measured, resolved, and verified
- Provides first-line support, answering technical questions and providing resolutions to problems
- Verify the accuracy of system security changes
- Provides information to all users regarding system status, operability, proper equipment use, and printer functions on a case-by-case basis
- Loads and verifies software and checks for correct operations on new systems
- Assists with hardware and software licensing functions and assists with inventory management
- Verifies proper performance of backup systems
- Keeps management well-informed of area activities and of any significant problems. Attends meetings as required
- Performs special projects as assigned

- Serves as a representative for D.L. Evans Bank in the community
