OVERVIEW: The Sanitation Technician will monitor the testing quality of both process and product attributes. The ideal candidate will ensure food safety and food quality achieve the standard set by Suntado and all regulatory agencies. You will also ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and applicable standards. This position shares responsibility for maintaining Suntado's food safety, quality and legality program under the BRC/GFSI/PCQI guidelines.

You Will:
  • Conduct micro swabbing.
  • Inspection of equipment.
  • Cleaning to MSS standards.
  • Titrating chemicals.
The successful candidate will have:
  • Be self-directed, independent, and capable of working with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
  • Be capable of using SDS information to properly perform work duties.
  • Have a strong working knowledge of safety protocols.
  • Have effective communication skills.
  • Have strong internal customer relations skills.
  • Work with and wear all PPE's at all times, especially when using chemicals.
  • Have a flexible scheduling capability.
  • Work within a production schedule.
  • Capacity to train others in sanitation skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure CIP room is clean and sanitary. Ensure gaskets are working as designed, titrating chemicals in tanks, and all equipment is operating properly.
  • Unloading bulk chemicals and managing barrel chemicals safely.
  • Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety standards.
  • Properly clean, wash and sanitize equipment.
    • Inspect fillers and swabs fillers.
    • Clean & Sanitize drains.
    • Be capable of completing gasket changes.
    • Assist with environmental swabbing.
    • Completes MSS.
    • Assist with the creation of SOP(s).
    • Ensure that all written documentation is done correctly and turned in appropriately.
    • Report non-conforming product and report to appropriate supervisors.
    • Validate CIPs.
    • Mandatory uniform requirements and PPE will be worn at all times in the Micro Lab.
  • Moving samples through various spaces.
  • Operate a floor scrubber and other jobs as needed.
  • Learn passivation skills.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • High School diploma or college degree (A.A.+ degree helpful).
  • MS Office experience
  • Experience with light equipment maintenance.
  • 2 years experience in sanitation is a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent active listening and communication skills.
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
  • Familiar with current communication tools and platforms (collaboration tools, instant messaging, blogs, etc.) to keep our organization well informed in a timely manner.
  • Ability to maintain legible records in accordance with company standards.
  • Previous experience in food, dairy, or beverage manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow instructions and SOPs.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and basic computer operation.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capability.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and follow food safety and regulatory systems including HACCP, GMPs, SQF, and PMO.
  • Ability to communicate (written and verbal) well to all levels throughout the plant.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
