Position Summary

This Position reports to the Director of Business Development of Gibby Group.

The De-Packaging Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, efficiency, and cleanliness of the de-packaging facility. This position plays a key role in ensuring incoming products and outgoing loads are processed, documented, and handled safely and efficiently while maintaining a high level of professionalism and operational performance.

This role requires an individual with strong customer service skills, organizational skills, paper and computer skills, mechanical aptitude, leadership ability, and a hands-on approach to plant operations. The ideal candidate is someone who can manage equipment operations, logistics, maintenance coordination, documentation, and process improvements.

The Plant Manager will work closely with operations leadership, truck drivers, customers, vendors, and plant personnel to ensure the facility operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and maintain day-to-day operations of the depackaging facility.
  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot depackaging and recycling equipment.
  • Coordinate unloading and receiving of inbound product shipments and trucks.
  • Coordinate and load outbound product shipments and trucks.
  • Maintain organized flow of incoming and outgoing materials throughout the plant.
  • Ensure plant cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards are consistently maintained.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and throughput.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance and minor repairs on plant equipment.
  • Work with outside vendors and maintenance technicians when advanced repairs are required.
  • Complete operational paperwork and maintain accurate plant records.
  • Prepare and process Certificates of Destruction and other required documentation for customers and regulatory purposes.
  • Oversee product traceability.
  • Track inventory, loads, production volumes, and disposal records.
  • Work directly with the farm and the sales team to ensure inventory is managed in a way that maintains quality and levels within storage capacity.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and operational procedures.
  • Train and supervise plant employees on proper equipment operation, safety procedures, and workflow expectations.
  • Assist in developing and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, truck drivers, and internal team members.
  • Recognize operational problems quickly and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Ensure the facility maintains a professional appearance and operates in a safe and efficient manner.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic understanding of industrial equipment and maintenance.
  • Previous experience in plant operations, manufacturing, recycling, agriculture processing, food processing, warehouse operations, or related industries preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead employees and maintain accountability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional demeanor and strong work ethic.
  • Computer skills including email, spreadsheets, and operational reporting.
  • Ability to adapt and solve problems independently.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials as needed.
  • Ability to work safely around industrial equipment and moving machinery.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and industrial plant environments.
  • Must be mentally alert, safety conscious, and capable of multitasking in an operational setting.

Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, with hours varying based on production schedules, inbound loads, maintenance needs, and operational demands. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
