Position: Operator - Forming I

Job Description

Forming Machine Operator – Burley,  (Hiring Immediately)

Compensation
  • $20.07 – Paid Weekly
  • Eligible for quarterly bonus based on plant productivity
Available Shift

7:00 pm to 7:00 am

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate pulp thermoforming equipment following SOPs and troubleshoot processes to achieve quality and production targets.
  • Use pulp consistency measurements and freeness tests.
  • Perform draw down tests on chemical pumps.
  • Apply SI and Imperial units where required.
  • Operate weight scales and simple control panels.
  • Monitor and inspect product quality; report defects, mechanical issues, or quality concerns to supervisor.
  • Maintain cooperation and communication among shifts, quality control, fiber molding, and management.
  • Collect data, prepare, and maintain reports.
  • Maintain work cell organization and cleanliness per Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Perform manual tasks as necessary.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, friendly work environment.
  • Follow sampling procedures and input data into the SPC system.
  • Operate and adjust machines within process limitations to maximize efficiency and uptime.
  • Read and understand equipment manuals, diagrams, and metric system measurements.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot problem areas.
  • Work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Follow all Food Safety/Quality programs per BRC standards and report issues to management.
  • Communicate effectively within a cross‑functional team.
  • Create an atmosphere of openness, honesty, trust, and teamwork.
  • Effectively report shift activities.
  • Participate in safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Operate equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis, implement corrective action, and understand cause and effect.
  • Use process sheets and allowable adjustments.
  • Apply basic math skills.
  • Follow written, oral, or diagram instructions.
  • Cooperate with Maintenance Dept. regarding equipment operation and repairs.
  • Develop and maintain ISO‑compliant processes.
  • Work independently as a self‑starter.
  • Keep work area clean and safe.
  • Ensure trainees follow established procedures when a trainer is unavailable.
  • Understand and operate thermoforming machinery, pumps, tanks, agitators, and chemical systems.
  • Operate thermoformers, pumps, HMIs, agitators, and testing equipment.
  • Read specifications to determine set points and operation parameters.
  • Maintain optimal machine efficiencies and uptime.
  • Meet or exceed performance standards and continuously improve upon them.
  • Organize and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Be an open, good team player.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years of manufacturing experience.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Minimal supervision required.
  • Ability to work a 12‑hour shift, standing, walking, and climbing.
  • Heed safety warnings, devices, and alarms.
  • Lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Problem‑solving ability and establish cause‑effect relationships.
