Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care of patients in an outpatient clinic setting. The RN uses nursing technology, therapeutic interventions, evidence‑based practice, and coordination with other health team members to deliver ambulatory care. The scope of performance includes triage, implementing standing orders and protocols, and performing procedures and therapies consistent with training and licensure.

RN experience in L&D preferred; experience with external fetal monitoring or training preferred;
Spanish speaking preferred.
- Perform appropriate assessment of physical, social, and psychological status, including cognitive, communicative, and developmental skills.
- Seek and evaluate information from interdisciplinary team members, patients, families, physicians, and support staff.
- Use assessment information and critical thinking to develop individualized plans of care.
- Actively engage patients, families, teams, and physicians in care planning and education.
- Plan and prepare patients for further support needs after current episode of care outcomes are met (e.g., teaching, referrals, and follow‑up).
- Direct interdisciplinary care team via delegation, coordination, and collaboration.
- Provide or delegate care consistent with the plan of care and professional licensure.
- Set priorities, coordinate and organize patient care delivery, manage time, supplies, and resources.
- Evaluate patient response to interventions by reviewing achievement of goals, clinical outcomes, and satisfaction of patients and families.
- Revise plan of care and reassess changes as indicated.
- Promote the nursing profession and participate in development of others.
- Integrate legal and ethical standards into practice: comply with regulatory standards, practice within scope of licensure, provide accurate documentation, and understand legal implications of care delivery.
- Manually lift and transfer patients, bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies, and navigate congested areas while maintaining safety.
- Assist with transporting and ambulating patients, including pushing or pulling gurneys and portable equipment.
- Stand in a stationary position for extended periods when required.
- Current RN License in the state of practice.
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- Practice‑specific certification as required by the clinical setting (e.g., ACLS, PALS).
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- RNs with less than 12 months of experience as an RN prior to joining Intermountain must obtain a BSN within four years of their start date.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
