DescriptionCanyon Falls Farm is seeking an experienced Safety and Health Manager to join our local farm team!
Summary:
The Safety and Health Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety and health programs that support safe and compliant agricultural operations. The Safety and Health Manager partners with operations teams to identify risks, prevent incidents, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote a strong culture of safety and continuous improvement
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety and health programs, policies, and procedures for assigned operations.
- Partner with operations and project teams to identify hazards, reduce risk, and support safe work practices.
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, hazard assessments, and industrial hygiene activities to identify and correct unsafe conditions.
- Investigate incidents, determine root causes, and support implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor safety performance, maintain safety records, and prepare reports and metrics for management.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Coordinate safety training programs and provide guidance to employees, contractors, vendors, and visitors on safety requirements and best practices.
- Maintain emergency response plans, SPCC plans, safety documentation, chemical inventories, SDS records, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Support contractor safety, PPE programs, emergency preparedness activities, and safety committee initiatives.
- Serve as a resource to management, employees, regulatory agencies, and insurance representatives on safety and health matters.
- Promote safety awareness and continuous improvement through employee engagement, communication, and education programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of progressive experience developing and administering safety and health programs.
- Experience conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable safety and environmental regulations.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments, and safety training.
- Strong incident investigation and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and recommend improvements.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to influence and coach employees and leaders on safe work practices
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety reporting systems.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally.
Preferred:
- CSP, ASP, CIH, or other relevant safety certification.
- Forklift Trainer, CPR, First Aid, or related safety certifications.
- Experience in agriculture, food processing, manufacturing, or a similar operational environment.
- Bilingual English/Spanish language skills.
