Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Key Job Requirements
- Diagnose and repair faulty production and related plant equipment with the minimum amount of supervision using the provided schematics, manuals and drawings.
- Diagnose and repair electro‑mechanical problems, troubleshoot electrical problems and have a strong understanding of preventative maintenance strategies.
- Identify faulty parts and provide proper nomenclature in the form of a requisition so that spares or replacements can be ordered.
- Know where spare parts are located in the store rooms and observe withdrawal and return procedures.
- Have general working knowledge of machine shop equipment.
- Know hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Be able to rebuild mechanical devices.
- Read schematics and prints.
- Have welding skills.
- Be able to do plumbing using copper, PVC and iron pipe.
- Understand basic electrical systems including 3‑phase using hand‑held test equipment.
- Be team oriented with leadership qualities and capable of leading co‑workers in assigned tasks.
- Maintain necessary records and established maintenance procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe working environment.
- Perform additional shift‑specific duties as assigned by the maintenance supervisor.
- Other duties as necessary.
- High school diploma/equivalent required.
- Four‑year technical degree or minimum 5–8 years relevant experience (or a comparable mix of education and experience).
- Completion of a vocational technical or trade‑school curriculum from an authorized school with a concentration in electro‑mechanical courses desired.
- Proven ability to read and use precision instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
- Speaking and presentation skills to conduct effective meetings.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
