Inventory & Receiving Specialist

Key Responsibilities Inventory Management
  • Maintain accurate inventories of medications, feed additives, supplies, equipment, and production materials.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs to the Production Manager.
  • Utilize the farm's inventory management system to accurately track inventory movement and usage.
  • Maintain organized inventory storage areas that promote efficiency, cleanliness, and accountability.
  • Conduct routine inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve inventory accuracy, and increase operational efficiency.
Receiving & Distribution
  • Receive, inspect, verify, and organize incoming deliveries, including whey, feed mixes, medications, and farm supplies.
  • Verify received shipments against purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Ensure all incoming materials are properly labeled, stored, and rotated according to company procedures.
  • Deliver medications, supplies, equipment, and other materials to individual barns and departments as needed.
  • Coordinate timely distribution of inventory to support uninterrupted farm operations.
Purchasing Support
  • Assist managers with purchasing requests and procurement needs.
  • Communicate inventory shortages and anticipated supply needs before stock levels become critical.
  • Support the purchasing process by maintaining accurate inventory records and usage data.
  • Assist with vendor communication regarding deliveries, shortages, or discrepancies when necessary.
Recordkeeping & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, receiving documentation, and usage reports.
  • Ensure all inventory transactions are entered accurately into the inventory management system.
  • Generate inventory reports for management as requested.
  • Maintain documentation in accordance with company policies and inventory procedures.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and secure inventory storage areas.
  • Promote best practices in inventory control, material handling, and warehouse organization.
  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory processes and operational efficiency.
  • Take ownership and pride in maintaining a highly organized, accurate, and efficient inventory system.
  • Help create and maintain a world-class inventory operation that supports a world-class pig farm.
Qualifications and Skills Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in inventory control, receiving, warehouse operations, agriculture, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience using inventory management software is preferred.
Organizational Skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with strong accountability and follow-through.
Technical Skills
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience working with inventory management systems.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare inventory reports.
  • Basic understanding of purchasing and inventory control principles.
Communication & Teamwork
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with managers, production employees, vendors, and delivery personnel.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to assist multiple departments.
