General Description

This position provides skilled accounting and processing services with a primary focus on CTA affiliates, under minimal supervision. Incumbent must maintain knowledge of current accounting procedures and policies and exercise independent analysis and judgement. Key responsibilities include coordinating and executing a wide range of accounting transactions for Service Center Councils and other affiliates, often involving extensive communication with outside parties.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Interprets processing and account reconciliation policies and procedures.
  • Prepares and processes transactions and data relating to the Association's accounting system in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
  • Prepares analyses and reconciliations for accounts assigned.
  • Prepares necessary accounting entries and documents to properly state and reconcile subsidiary and general ledger accounts.
  • Responsible for the overall accuracy and accounting for a given set of assigned projects and reports.
  • Reviews, resolves, and responds to accounting problems and inquiries related to the processing of transactions and records including financial statements taken as a whole.
  • Prepares and coordinates the disbursement of certain accounting documents as necessary to outside parties including, but not limited to, verification statements and records, billings and other financial reports.
  • Maintains and updates a centralized database of local chapter information as needed.
  • Handles group exemption requests and submits required filings to regulatory agencies.
  • Conducts training sessions with applicable parties with regards to accounting and processing policies and procedures for the Association.
  • Maintains liaison with applicable parties with regard to processing and accounting related procedures.
  • Performs other appropriate duties as assigned.
Qualifications - Minimum Required
  • Bachelor's degree or Associate degree & 2 years relevant experience, or High School diploma/GED & 5 years relevant experience.
  • Understanding of accounting procedures and principles.
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with a focus on Excel and Word.
  • Must have the ability to exercise initiative, tact and good judgement.
  • Must have the ability to organize and coordinate work plans involving associates.
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure and adapt to changes in priorities.
  • Must have the ability to analyze problems and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Proficient in the use of computer technology and the ability to learn and use the Association's software programs.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

* This position is in a bargaining unit represented by CAS. Salaries are established by a collective bargaining agreement. Step placement is also determined by the CTA/CAS Agreement.
