Overview
This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. We’re seeking a skilled volunteer to help Women’s Coaching Alliance (WCA) build a clear, scalable sponsorship strategy as we expand beyond the Bay Area into Los Angeles, New York (launching this Fall), and potentially additional markets. WCA has relied on event‑based sponsor ships so far.
We now need an organization‑wide framework that includes local market sponsor ships and broader corporate partnerships, plus a plan for how to identify, approach, and secure them. The volunteer will develop two sponsorship frameworks.
- Local Market Sponsorship Plan (for regional partners supporting youth sports participation, girls’ leadership, retention in sports, and access for underserved communities)
- Deliverables:
Local sponsorship menu (tiers, benefits, pricing) - In‑market activation guidance
- Package names + value propositions
- 12‑month strategy + outreach plan
- Deliverables:
- Corporate Sponsorship & Partnership Plan (for companies offering financial support, employee mentors/volunteers, and multi‑market programming)
- Deliverables:
Corporate partnership tiers (benefits + pricing) - Recommended partnership models
- Pitch structure + key messaging
- Partner “pathway” for multi‑market engagement
- Prospect categories / sample target list
- Deliverables:
WCA trains and deploys female coaches who build leadership skills in girls through sport — helping more kids play, helping girls stay in sport longer, and developing the next generation of confident women leaders. As we expand beyond the Peninsula / Bay Area into Los Angeles and New York — and explore opportunities with partners like the Cleveland Cavaliers — we have an urgent need to develop sustainable sponsorship pathways that allow us to grow without relying only on one‑time events.
This project will directly support our mission by:
- Increasing the number of WCA female coaches serving communities across the country
- Helping us fund program delivery and expansion into new markets
- Building long‑term sponsorship relationships that are tied to community impact (not just events)
- Creating opportunities for corporate partners to engage their employees as mentors and volunteers, strengthening leadership pathways for girls and young women
- The right sponsorship strategy will help WCA reach more kids, develop more girls as leaders through sport, and bring more equitable coaching to communities nationwide.
We are fully committed to making this partnership effective, collaborative, and successful. We will ensure the volunteer has what they need to move quickly and produce high‑quality outputs.
What we’ll provide- Existing sponsorship examples (event sponsorship tiers, benefits, past decks, sponsor logos, pricing history)
- WCA mission, impact data, and storytelling elements
- Current program model and expansion plans (Bay Area, Los Angeles, New York, and future cities)
- Any current sponsor/partner list and fundraising pipeline (if applicable)
- Internal alignment and buy‑in: this project has support from our Founder, and we are ready to implement outcomes immediately
- Weekly working session (if required) with quick feedback loops
- One point person responsible for coordination, materials, and follow‑up
- Quick decision‑making so the volunteer isn’t stuck waiting for approvals
- Clear timeline, deliverables, and final “handoff” materials
The deliverables will be used immediately to:
- Build our 2026 sponsorship outreach strategy
- Launch our New York market with a sponsor‑ready offering
- Align local sponsorship asks across Bay Area and LA
- Create a consistent corporate pitch for multi‑market sponsorship and employee mentor programs
Mission:
We develop female leaders through coaching youth sports. We connect young women who play sports with coaching opportunities, development and mentorship and prepare them to be leaders within and outside of sports.
