Physical Education Teacher

Burlingame Intermediate School is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and student-centered Physical Education Teacher to join our collaborative middle school team. We are looking for an educator who fosters an inclusive environment, promotes lifelong health and wellness, and connects exceptionally well with middle school students across both physical and academic settings.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Core PE Instruction:
    Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality, CA State Standards-aligned physical education curriculum that promotes physical literacy, teamwork, and healthy habits for middle schoolers.
  • Classroom Management:
    Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured environment in the gym, on the fields, and within the traditional classroom setting.
  • Assessment & Inclusivity:
    Utilize diverse assessment methods to track student progress and differentiate instruction to ensure all students—regardless of athletic ability—can succeed and feel valued.
  • Collaboration:

    Actively participate in staff meetings, department collaboration, and school-wide events to support the holistic mission of BIS.

Requirements / Qualifications

Credential:
Valid California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Physical Education. EL Authorization:
English Learner Authorization (CLAD/CTEL) required.

Experience:

Previous experience teaching at the middle school level is highly preferred. Key Attributes:
Strong communication skills, excellent organizational ability, a collaborative mindset, and a genuine passion for guiding early adolescents.

Single Subject Physical Education w/EL Authorization (CTEL, CLAD, or equivalent) Official Transcripts (upon hire) Background clearance (upon hire) TB clearance (upon hire) Selected applicants will be processed through the DOJ, FBI, and NASDTEC. NASDTEC is a clearinghouse that checks credential status in all 50 states
