The journey to becoming a travel nurse begins with obtaining your degree as a Registered Nurse (RN), which takes 2-4 years depending on your program. After graduation, you must pass the NCLEX RN exam. Licensing requirements vary by state, but the Enhanced Nursing Licensure Compact allows practice in over 25 states with a single license. Other states require a state-specific license.
Most facilities require at least one year of acute care experience in your specialty, and additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or AWHONN may be beneficial. After securing a position, you'll complete clinical credentialing, including license verification, TB test, physical, immunizations, and background checks, before starting your first assignment.
Finding suitable housing is crucial for a successful assignment. While many nurses used to rely on recruiters for housing, most now opt for stipends to find their own accommodations. Resources include vacation rental websites like Home Away, VRBO, Airbnb, and specialized services like Furnished Finder and Corporate Housing by Owner. At Stability Healthcare, we offer options to suit your preferences, whether you choose our premium accommodations or prefer to find your own hidden gem.
Our goal is to make your experience as easy and stress-free as possible.
At Stability Healthcare, we recognize that becoming a travel nurse is an exciting and lucrative career opportunity.
