Position:
Interim Dean of Students, Grades 7-12
Location:
Har-Bur Middle School and Lewis S. Mills High School
Reports to:
Middle and High School Building Principals
Starting Date:
August 2026
Major
Responsibilities Include:
- Promotes a positive and respectful school climate with the focus on the health, safety and well-being of students and staff members.
- Oversees student conduct, ensuring adherence to school rules and regulations.
- Intervenes when students violate policies and helps determine appropriate consequences for infractions, balancing fairness, and accountability.
- Collaborates with staff on student support plans, behavior management, and academic progress.
- Mediates issues between students using best practice conflict resolution strategies.
- Tracks student attendance and address chronic absenteeism.
- Maintains a close and cooperative relationship with families.
- Responds to emergencies, student health issues or incidents.
- Assists the schools' administrative teams in shaping their culture and vision and providing strategic direction for student life programming, incorporating diversity, equity, inclusion, and social emotional learning.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge and experience in a combination of the following areas:
Candidates must hold or be eligible for a Connecticut 092 Intermediate Administrator Certification
Experience and knowledge in establishing a positive school climate and culture.
Background in building strong relationships and partnerships with students, school staff, and families.
