The Burlington Academy of Learning is seeking an enthusiastic, nurturing, and experienced Lead Pre Kindergarten Teacher to join our growing team. We are looking for a passionate educator who is committed to preparing children for kindergarten through engaging, hands‑on learning experiences in our Montessori‑inspired environment.
Responsibilities- Create and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with our curriculum.
- Foster a warm, safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Prepare children for kindergarten by teaching early literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, and social‑emotional learning through hands‑on experiences.
- Encourage independence, problem‑solving, creativity, and self‑confidence.
- Observe, assess, and document each child's developmental progress.
- Maintain student portfolios and classroom documentation.
- Build strong partnerships with families through consistent communication and conferences.
- Collaborate with administrators and fellow teachers to maintain a high‑quality educational program.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment.
- Ensure compliance with all Connecticut Office of Early Childhood licensing regulations, health, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, school events, and family engagement activities.
- Serve as a positive role model for children, families, and fellow staff members.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience working in an early childhood education setting.
- Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field required, or currently working toward a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and/or Connecticut teaching certification.
- Candidates actively pursuing their degree are encouraged to apply.
- Montessori knowledge or previous Montessori experience is highly encouraged and considered a strong asset.
- Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Excellent classroom management, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build meaningful relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Knowledge of Connecticut Office of Early Childhood licensing regulations is preferred.
- Passion for creating a joyful, engaging, and child‑centered learning environment.
