Our client, a market-leading manufacturer in the food packaging industry, is seeking an experienced Plant Controller to join their team in Burlington, Iowa. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with manufacturing and inventory accounting experience to play a key role in plant operations, financial performance, and strategic decision-making.
The Plant Controller will lead plant financial operations, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and accounting activities while partnering closely with plant leadership to drive operational excellence, profitability, and business growth.

- Lead all plant financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of inventory reporting through effective tracking and control processes.
- Prepare monthly financial reports covering labor, materials, manufacturing overhead, distribution costs, inventory, and operational performance metrics.
- Maintain and enforce internal controls to protect company assets, minimize risk, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
- Provide leadership and support to plant accounting personnel.
- Partner with plant leadership to provide financial analysis and recommendations that improve efficiency, profitability, and operational performance.
- Analyze cost structures and manufacturing performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support annual planning, forecasting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Inventory accounting experience is required.
- Cost accounting experience is preferred; however, candidates with strong manufacturing accounting and inventory accounting backgrounds will also be considered.
- Experience with ERP systems such as JD Edwards, Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively across departments.
- Ability to analyze financial and operational data and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
