Job Summary
Southeastern Community College Center for Business (CBIZ) is seeking part‑time licensed cosmetology professionals to teach Continuing Education (CEU) courses for licensed Iowa cosmetologists. These courses help professionals meet the state licensing renewal requirement of 6 CE hours every two years, including 2 hours of Iowa law, rules and sanitation, and 4 hours related to their specific practice area.
Responsibilities- Commit to the mission, vision, values and goals of the college.
- Consistently attend scheduled CEU sessions.
- Welcome participants and deliver a professional, engaging classroom experience.
- Provide instruction based on Iowa Board of Cosmetology requirements under limited supervision.
- Deliver content aligned with law, sanitation and discipline‑specific trends and practices.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional learning environment before, during and after class.
- Provide exemplary customer service and positive class interaction, meeting participant needs.
- Effectively communicate with participants and Continuing Education staff.
- Submit all required course documentation for CEU certificates to the staff.
- Travel to Burlington, Keokuk, Mt. Pleasant and Fort Madison campuses; be available to work evenings and weekends.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Active Iowa cosmetology license in good standing.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Pass a background check.
- Pass pre‑employment and random drug screening.
- Professional attitude and commitment to exceeding expectations with superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Passion for lifelong learning.
- Comply with all safety rules and regulations and make safety a priority.
- Patience and awareness of cultural diversity.
- Responsibility and independent judgment when making decisions.
- Willingness to complete required paperwork, attendance records, progress reports and documentation.
- Teaching or training experience.
- Familiarity with Iowa Board of Cosmetology CEU standards.
- Experience developing and delivering educational or professional development content.
- Ability to carry, distribute and rearrange class materials as needed.
