Mantell Associates is partnered with a trailblazing chem-tech organisation headquartered in the UK, who is seeking an accomplished Business Development Director to lead commercial strategy, drive new revenue opportunities, and build high-impact partnerships across global markets.
Business Development Director - Responsibilities:- Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies that drive revenue growth and market expansion for innovative chem-tech solutions
- Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities with strategic partners, industrial clients, and key sector stakeholders
- Build and nurture strong senior-level relationships with prospective and existing clients to understand their needs and position the organisation’s value proposition effectively
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (product, technical, operations, marketing) to align commercial initiatives with customer demands and delivery capabilities
- Represent the organisation at industry events, conferences, and forums to elevate brand visibility and cultivate prospects
- Lead contract negotiations, proposals, and commercial agreements while ensuring alignment with organisational goals and client expectations
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging sector opportunities to inform strategic planning and organisational positioning
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Business, or related field; advanced or postgraduate qualification preferred
- Experience in Small Molecules and Drug Discovery
- 5-8 years in CRO or Chemical Innovation experience
- Proven experience (typically 8+ years) in business development or commercial leadership roles within technology-driven or industrial B2B environments
- Demonstrated track record of securing high-value partnerships and driving revenue growth, ideally within chemical technology, sustainability solutions, or related sectors
- Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate market insights into executable business strategies
- Highly motivated, results-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced innovation environment
