Licensing and Business Development Director – Advanced Solutions QC testing portfolio in the pharma and food and beverage industries, with a focus on automated QC processes and microbial / pathogen testing in pharma.

Role Overview

You will identify and execute external partnerships in line with portfolio strategies. You will source and manage a broad network of partners to develop a robust pipeline of opportunities for strategic partnerships and licensing opportunities that contribute toward annual revenue and margin targets. Deal types include, but are not limited to, co‑development, licensing, distribution, co‑marketing, OEM, and research collaborations. You will scout partners, evaluate and negotiate deals, and draft and execute contracts while coordinating multiple cross‑functional stakeholders such as R&D, legal, product management, regulatory, and quality.

Travel

Required

Travel up to 30% of work time, including international.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Life Science AND 10+ years of industry experience in corporate development, strategic partnerships (non‑sales), BD & L with demonstrated deal closure of deals valuing ≥$5 M USD + 10‑Year NPV.
  • Graduate Degree in a Scientific field AND 5+ years of industry experience in corporate development, strategic partnerships (non‑sales), BD & L with demonstrated deal closure of deals valuing ≥$5 M USD + 10‑Year NPV.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA
  • Experience working within a matrixed environment.
  • Understanding of IP protections, contract negotiations, and Venture Capital.
  • Demonstrated experience in negotiation and knowledge of basic contract language.
  • Financial acumen and ability to build and defend financial analyses and business cases, including DCFs for equipment/instrument, consumables and digital assets.
  • Strong networking and intelligence gathering skills.
  • Ability to operate as an individual contributor in the face of ambiguity, shifting priorities, and limited resources.
  • Strong presentation skills targeted to C‑suite audiences.
Pay Range

$167,500 – $251,300 (announced base pay). Actual compensation will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job‑related factors. The position may be eligible for sales or performance‑based bonuses.
