Position SummaryThe Vice President, Head of US Pricing & Market Access will lead the development and execution of the U.S. market access strategy to ensure optimal payer coverage, reimbursement, and market access for the company’s portfolio of innovative therapies. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this executive will build and lead all market access activities, including payer strategy, pricing and contracting, reimbursement, trade and distribution, and health economics and outcomes research (HEOR).
The ideal candidate is a proven market access leader with deep U.S. payer expertise, strong relationships across commercial and government payers, and a successful track record of securing access for specialty and rare disease therapies.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership
- Develop and execute U.S. market access strategies across pipeline and commercial products.
- Serve as the company’s senior market access leader and strategic advisor to executive leadership.
- Shape launch readiness plans, access objectives, pricing strategy, and long-term commercialization planning.
- Provide market access input into portfolio strategy, lifecycle management, and business development opportunities.
Payer & Channel Strategy
- Establish and maintain senior-level relationships with national and regional health plans, PBMs, government payers, integrated delivery networks, specialty pharmacies, and distribution partners.
- Lead payer engagement strategies and value proposition development to support favorable coverage and reimbursement.
- Develop and execute pricing, contracting, and channel strategies that maximize patient access while optimizing financial performance.
Trade & Channel Strategy
- Develop and execute U.S. trade and distribution strategies that support launch excellence, patient access, and commercial objectives.
- Lead selection, contracting, and management of specialty pharmacy, specialty distributor, and channel partners.
- Ensure alignment of distribution, reimbursement, and market access strategies to optimize product availability and patient access.
- Monitor channel performance, market dynamics, and evolving distribution models to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Partner with Commercial, Finance, Legal, and Supply Chain teams to establish scalable channel infrastructure supporting current and future product launches.
Evidence & Value Demonstration
- Lead development of payer-focused evidence strategies in partnership with Medical Affairs and Clinical Development.
- Ensure generation of compelling value evidence, including HEOR analyses, economic models, and payer communications that support reimbursement decisions.
- Influence development programs to incorporate endpoints and evidence relevant to payers and health technology assessment bodies.
Organizational Leadership
- Build and lead a high-performing market access organization.
- Recruit, develop, and mentor talent across market access functions.
- Foster strong cross‑functional collaboration with Commercial, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Finance, Legal, and Government Affairs.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred (MBA, MPH, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent).
- 15+ years of biopharmaceutical industry experience
- Demonstrated success developing and executing market access strategies for specialty and/or rare disease products.
- Proven experience supporting product launches and securing favorable payer access in the U.S.
- Deep expertise in commercial payer, Medicare, Medicaid, specialty pharmacy, pricing, reimbursement, and contracting dynamics.
- Established senior‑level relationships across major U.S. payers, PBMs, and specialty pharmacy stakeholders.
- Strong track record of payer negotiations and formulary access achievement.
- Strategic, commercially oriented leader with exceptional communication, influence, and negotiation skills.
- Experience building organizations and leading teams in high‑growth biotechnology and pharmaceutical environments.
