We are seeking per diem substitute teachers for the Burlington Public Schools for the 2026/2027 school year.
If you love working with children of all ages, we welcome your application! Opportunities are available at all levels K-12. Substitute teachers provide an important service to ensure that our students continue to progress in their academics in the absence of their classroom teacher.
Expectations Include:
* Provide students with appropriate learning activities in the academic subject area
* Carry out the absent teacher's prepared lesson plans and any special duties assigned by the building Principal
* Use the absent teacher's classroom discipline plan and give specific directions about desired behavior
* Consult with the administration and/or staff to resolve any questions/concerns
* Comply with all building and district-wide procedures and schedules
* Provide a summary for the absent teacher at the end of the day of work completed and any special situations encountered
* Demonstrated commitment to the District and our students by accepting a minimum of 10 assignments over the school year
Requirements:
* 60 or more college hours verified via an official college transcript, Associates Degree, or equivalent
* Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
* Strong preference will be given to those with experience working with children, and who are available for all levels and able to work throughout the school year
Compensation:
$110 per day. This is an on-call position.
