Senior Optical Engineer

Burlington, MA

Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM

$56.97 - $71.20/hour

Temporary, through December 2026

• Lead optical engineering efforts for the second prototype build
• Provide technical guidance to the Optical Technician and broader engineering team
• Contribute to the design and development of ophthalmic medical devices, including component selection and system design
• Develop documentation such as work instructions, testing procedures, and validation protocols
• Design production tooling and test fixtures while ensuring performance and reliability
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including hardware, software, mechanical, and applied research to advance diagnostic and therapeutic technologies

• Minimum 5 years of experience within an optical engineering or photonics environment
• Proven experience supporting product development from prototype through manufacturing handoff
  
  Strong optical design, analysis, and testing experience
• Mechanical design experience (CAD, Solid Works) is a significant plus for developing test fixtures

• Strong communication skills with the ability to propose solutions and raise risks or concerns
• Self-starter who can work autonomously with minimal guidance
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to partner cross-functionally
• Strong problem-solving capabilities
