Position: General Engineer (Lead Engineer)

Job Summary

General Engineer for Terminal Construction, Lead Engineer in the AJW‑2E11 Organization. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and reviewing engineering work on complex projects, overseeing design, construction and installation, mentoring project engineers, ensuring schedules, and preparing cost estimates and risk reports.

Responsibilities
  • Apply general engineering principles as a Lead Engineer for implementation of highly complex projects comprising multiple sub‑projects or large national programs requiring in‑depth engineering knowledge and independent judgment.
  • Represents assigned Center on matters requiring technical interpretation and guidance; plans, coordinates and reviews engineering work within the center or program area.
  • Oversees engineering design, construction and installation activities; prioritizes and outlines work; provides advice to solve technical problems.
  • Reviews work of other engineers for technical accuracy and adequacy; assists Center personnel with challenging engineering problems.
  • Works with other LEs to deliver consistent and efficient implementation products across each Service Area; maintains consistency with standards, procedures and implementation methodologies.
  • Serves as key engineering point of contact for assigned projects/programs to all stakeholders including management, other employees and external parties.
  • Provides constructive feedback and persuasion on project/program matters using effective interpersonal skills.
  • Organizes, coordinates and mentors the efforts of project engineers supporting the program.
  • Ensures project/program schedules are compatible with organizational objectives, support project/program needs and can be accomplished within available resources and funding.
  • Monitors project interdependencies by assessing impacts from new requirements, technologies, budget constraints or changes.
  • Prepares cost estimates and risk management reports for work at the assigned area of responsibility.
Education & Qualifications

Positive education requirement: submit official college or university transcripts. Schools must be accredited by an institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Foreign education must be evaluated by a private professional organization or an accredited U.S. institution for equivalence to an American degree. Applicants must also provide a copy of their SF‑50 (Notification of Personnel Action) if a current FAA employee.
