YourOpportunity
Senior Electrical Engineer / Project Designer. You will work as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Lead Engineer/Designer. You will lead in evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering certain electrical power, lighting, fire alarm and other low‑voltage systems for a project, verifying compliance with applicable codes and internal engineering standards/practices. Tasks may include Revit and AutoCAD design, calculations, and field work.

- Creates electrical design documentation using Revit / AutoCAD and directs junior staff via markups or other methods to convey design intent and expectations.
- Provides direct supervision to assigned staff to develop skills, strengths and career goals.
- Leads design development from sketches to engineering calculations, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
- Prepares and reviews documentation in various project phases including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details.
- Coordinates with other building disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent and reviews junior staff coordination.
- Performs advanced calculations of building elements and electrical systems using company standard and proprietary software, and reviews others’ results.
- Performs or reviews field work to assess existing facility conditions for developing site‑specific electrical design documents and to monitor contractor work.
- Leads engineering construction administration duties: shop drawing and submittal review, RFIs, site observation / punch list reports.
- Leads evaluation and selection of building electrical systems/materials and develops discipline specifications.
- Attends project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.
- Participates in value engineering and basic cost estimating exercises.
- Applies technical expertise while leading cross‑functional resources to meet project requirements within established time frames and budget.
- Provides client consultation based on professional expertise and knowledge of Stantec services.
- Maintains and nurtures existing client relationships and proactively pursues new business opportunities.
- Acts as a resource for staff at all levels, guiding training on software, codes, field work, and design processes.
- Maintains current knowledge of technologies and trends applicable to the project and market types, continually strengthening skills.
- Implements sustainable design principles in building design and its surroundings.
- Thorough understanding of electrical engineering concepts and effective communication of ideas.
- Solid understanding of power distribution, lighting, and low‑voltage systems for the built environment.
- Experience in the construction industry and/or knowledge of construction processes, including construction administration roles.
- Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
- Ability to apply sustainable design principles within projects.
- Ability to integrate design elements with other disciplines.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as NFPA, International Building Codes, and applicable Energy Codes.
- Strong client communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple overlapping projects and design teams while maintaining execution and schedule.
