Job Description & How to Apply Below

About the Role

Cooling performance limits high‑power computing, semiconductor fab, cell networks, photonics, power electronics, and most of our digital world. JCI enables customers to break through these constraints with novel complex metal components that dramatically improve heat dissipation in high‑performance systems. JCI's patented Stack Forging™ process enables complex micro‑geometries, resulting in single‑piece, leak‑tight parts that deliver superior cooling performance, lower pressure drops, and exceptional reliability.

JCI is seeking a technically skilled and creative Thermal Design Engineer to join our team. The Thermal Design Engineer will support the design and development of high‑quality, manufacturable thermal management components that meet performance, quality, and schedule requirements. They will work closely with the production, materials process, solutions, and quality teams to help ensure designs transition smoothly from concept to production.

This role generally requires 4 days a week onsite.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities are subject to change based on shifting business needs.

  • Develop detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and technical drawings for parts and sub‑assemblies.
  • Apply DFM (Design for Manufacturability) principles to support optimized designs. Perform engineering calculations and basic tolerance analyses to verify parts meet functional and durability requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to incorporate feedback from production, quality, and solutions teams.
  • Create and maintain design documentation and revision control records.
  • Assist in investigating and resolving design‑related production issues.
  • Stay current on manufacturing processes, materials, and relevant industry standards.
  • Support pre‑sales efforts by providing technical input as needed.
  • Build a working understanding of JCI's process, industry trends, and emerging technologies.
What you’ll bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2–5 years of experience in mechanical part design, preferably in a metal fabrication or machining environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (preferably Onshape).
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) per ASME Y14.5 standards.
  • Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience working with ERP/PDM systems is a plus.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $90000 - $110000. Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
